Barrel worn, Could very well be, but other then the flash and inconsistant blast the barrel does not exhibit other signs of a worn barrel. I am going to spend some time this weekend conducting some tests to try and resovle this issue.ġ.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this. The quesition is, why are my loads making such a large blast and flash? Could it be the holes in the barrel? I though about unburned powder in the comp, but why does it not happen with the 115 load? Lastly, does (or could) this large muzzle flash do any damage to the gun? There is exposed lead at the base of these bullets. His loads consist of WSR primers, COL of 1.250, Crimp of. My loads consist of WSR primers, COL of 1.249, Crimp of. There is a much reduced flash and much less muzzel blast. He has the identical gun except he does not have any holes in the barrel and it is 38 super. Now, for comparision, I shot some loads a fellow shooter had. The empty cases look fine, no apparent signs of high pressure. There is no differance in felt recoil throughout a string if fire. I have check the chagre weight and it is consistant. There might be three or four rounds of equal volume, then a much louder blast. There is a large blast and flash using this load. The gun is has a 5.5 inch barrel, 7 port comp, and 2 TJ holes in the barrel. I have recently started using 3N38 in my Sv open gun.
